At Garner Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, our team is committed to offering personalized cosmetic dentistry to patients of all ages. That’s why we offer Invisalign® solutions for our patients struggling with crooked or gapped teeth. If you want to achieve straighter teeth, Invisalign could be exactly what you need to help you achieve this goal!
Invisalign treatment involves utilizing a set of clear, removable aligners that reposition the teeth over time through repeated usage. Patients remove their aligners to eat, brush, and floss without constraint. We find that Invisalign is most effective for teens and adults with mild to moderate orthodontic issues, as more extreme orthodontic issues can call for a different type of treatment.
Is Invisalign Right For Me?
Orthodontics can help patients of all ages improve the appearance, health, and function of their natural teeth. There are more options available than ever before to achieve a straighter smile, including Invisalign. Invisalign is one of the most discreet, patient-friendly solutions for mild orthodontic issues. In addition to cosmetic concerns, it can also be used to address the oral health concerns that come with misaligned teeth. Our patients utilize Invisalign solutions to address a variety of issues with their smiles, including:
- Crooked teeth
If you are unsure if Invisalign will meet your orthodontic needs, our team performs an initial exam to determine if this treatment is right for you.
Invisalign: What To Expect
An initial consultation is needed to determine if Invisalign treatment is right for you. If you are an ideal candidate for Invisalign, our team will take the necessary images, x-rays, and impressions needed to create your custom clear aligners. Then, we make a 3D model of your teeth so that you can see the current condition of your smile and what your smile will look like after you have completed your treatment.
Our Invisalign patients experience a wide range of benefits to this treatment option, including:
- Simple upkeep requirements
- Ability to eat food without restrictions
- Minimal impressions needed
- Improved oral hygiene
- Discreet solution
- Maximum comfort
- Customized fit for your specific needs
During your Invisalign treatment, you will need to switch your aligners about every two weeks. Each aligner is designed to reposition your teeth slowly until they reach the desired position. You will need periodic check-ups throughout your Invisalign treatment to ensure your smile is moving as projected. Some adjustments to your treatment plan may be needed as your teeth begin to move to ensure you get the best results.
How long do you have to wear Invisalign for?
On average Invisalign treatment takes about a year, give or take one or two months. The level of how crooked your teeth were to begin with, and how your dentists mapped plan for you is laid out can affect the amount of time treatment takes.
Should I remove my Invisalign when eating?
Yes- it is recommended that patients who are undergoing Invisalign treatment should remove their aligners while eating or drinking anything other than water. Dentists recommend that patients have a case or specific place that they store their aligners while eating. They are clear and easy to lose or misplace, so having a consistent storage place is a safe decision.
What do patients eat while wearing Invisalign?
Patients are instructed not to eat while wearing Invisalign. Dentists recommend that aligners be removed when eating or drinking anything except for water. Drinks and foods can change the color of your clear aligner very quickly. If you do not want to be wearing a tinted brown or yellow aligner then remove your Invisalign when eating and drinking.
Is Invisalign painful?
Invisalign does rearrange the placement of teeth. Whenever teeth are shifting there is pain involved, but pain associated with Invisalign tends to be on a low scale. Most people who undergo Invisalign treatment report their pain as being mild and entirely bearable.
